Production Notes
2016: A near perfect growing season culminating in long autumnal ripening conditions provided pristine, expressive fruit for the 2016 North Block Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine displays its classic sweet dark and red berry fruit notes, coupled with bayleaf, cedar and dark chocolate in a rich, complex package which will live on for many years. Drink now – 2036
2015: A smooth and complex wine with excellent structure, balance and plush, silky tannins. A generous palate displays sweet red and dark berry fruit, hints of earth, cedar and tobacco, testament to the warm ripening period and lower than average yields.
2014: A perfect ripening period produced a pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from our North Block. Lifted aromas of dark and red berry fruits, hints of violets, dark chocolate, tobacco and cedar all of which follow through on the rich, complex palate. Excellent structure and balance, supported by fine, layered tannins and seamlessly integrated French oak.
2013: Sweet dark berry fruit with hints of cedar, spice and graphite adding a savoury element to the wine. A warm growing season and perfect ripening period afforded by the 2013 vintage produced a rich, concentrated wine which is rich, dark and complex with excellent structure and balance supported by plush, silky tannins.
2010: Starting to age gracefully, this wine was only the second single block Project release from the U12 North Block, planted in 1995. Initially showing intense, sweet dark berry character, the wine has softened to display berry coulis and dried fruits, spice and dark chocolate notes. On the palate, it's soft textured and mouth-filling, drinking beautifully right now but with a good few years' cellaring still possible. Drink now - 2030.
2009: The first Project Cabernet Sauvignon ever made, using hand picked fruit from the “rising star” vineyard which, today, provides a core component of all our pinnacle Cabernets. Rich and complex with great structure and balance.
