Vineyard Notes
One of our best growing seasons with sunny days & light winds producing excellent, balanced growth, perfect flowering and fruitset. A warm, dry summer led to early tannin ripeness and extended ripening meant Cabernet grapes were harvested at optimum flavour development with lower than normal sugars.
Production Notes
2009: Using one of our highest ever percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend has created a structural, rich, yet balanced wine with exceptional length and longevity. Dark cassis and mulberry fruits, savoury dark chocolate, bayleaf and soft spice notes, fine grained tannins and seamlessly integrated toasty oak. Drink now to 2029. 2008: Ripe, soft dark berry fruit, black olives and characteristic Margaret River bay leaf notes dominate in this low yielding, warm season wine. A wine of great fruit complexity, now nicely softening into secondary character, with ripe, chunky tannins and a savoury, toasty oak influence. Drink now to 2023. 2007: A concentrated wine of dark berry fruit intensity, dusty, gravelly notes with some savoury bayleaf and dark chocolate character. The palate is rich in dark berry fruit, savoury and spice notes together with seamlessly integrated French oak and structural tannins which play testimony to the warm growing season. Drink now to 2025 2006: Vintage conditions did not allow for this wine to be produced 2005: One of our most Bordeaux-like Cabernets, this is a layered, complex wine displaying lovely dark fruits in the blackberry spectrum, savoury bayleaf character and hints of chocolate, balanced by finely integrated French oak. The soft, chalky tannins encourage drinking now, but will reward those who can cellar a little longer. 2004: From one of Margaret River's most classic vintages, this wine still boasts juicy dark berry fruits, dark chocolate and cedary oak. It is distinguished by its fine, integrated, powdery tannins, supported by fruit intensity, excellent texture and quality French oak. A generous wine that it will benefit from a few more years of cellaring, especially if bottled under screw cap.
