Growing conditions
Warm temperatures and late winter rains woke the vines sooner than expected. Pre-pruning and a cooler August helped stall budburst until early September. Conditions remained warmer and drier than average, triggering fruit set and helping ripen fruit beautifully into the new year. Shoot thinning ensured only pristine bunches were harvested.
Winemaker notes
Each batch was de-stemmed and pressed to tank immediately upon arrival to the winery. After settling to clarify the juice, parcels were racked and then inoculated with selected yeast cultures for alcoholic fermentation, which generally lasted 10-14 days. A portion of Semillon was fermented in old French oak to add a structural element to the wine's palate.
