Cabernet & Chardonnay Shine in 2020 Halliday Wine Companion
The 2020 Halliday Wine Companion awards unfolded recently and we're proud to be part of the Margaret River collective who dominated the night scooping up the largest number of 'Best of Varietal' Awards alongside many other accolades.
Our own 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon landed a score of 98 points and included as one of the 'Best of the Best' Cabernets in Australia. According to Halliday, 'the difficulty will be keeping your hands off' this wine with its 'perfumed bouquet' and 'juicy fruit'. The last cases are available online until 3rd September 2019 unless sold out prior.
All our wines - including our celebrated organically-farmed Cabernet and Chardonnay - are 100% estate grown from varieties that thrive in our unique terroir. We are like proud parents seeing such a strong showing for these varietals this year.
2014 Cabernet Sauvignon - 98 points
'The expressive, indeed perfumed bouquet points the way for the elegant medium-bodied palate where juicy fruit oak and tannins are fused seamlessly together. An appropriate wine for Voyager's 40th anniversary, certain to celebrate its 50th. The difficulty will be keeping your hands of it'. RRP $85 Available Now
2017 Broadvale Block 6 Chardonnay - 96 points
'That extra something. This is where the real action is at: stone fruit, mineral, wood smoke and slate flavours sizzle their way through the palate before flying out into the sunset on the finish. The feel, flavour and sign off here are all high class'. RRP $65 Available Now
2015 Old Block V9 Cabernet Sauvignon - 96 points
'Medium to full-bodied with blackcurran, peppercorn, dark chocolate and smokey oak flavours swanning through the palate. There's a sizeable swell of tannin, but the fruit has set up the spinnaker and sails on regardless. It's quite a wine. It makes power and elegance look like the most natural of partners' RRP $105. Available in September 2019
2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc - 96 points
'It's as much about texture and length as it's about flavour, though there's no certaintly no shortage of the latter. it tastes of dark chocolate and coffee, blackcurrant and black liquorice, with gum leaf notes adding lift. The tannin is so fine and yet so firm it's perfect in its under-zealous application of the law. Perfectly positioned to age magnificently. RRP $85. Available in September 2019
2017 Broadvale Block 5 Chardonnay - 95 points
'Simultaneously elegant and rich. Stone fruit, pear, apple and citrus flavours run energetically through the palate, bringing with them both a creaminess to the mouthfeel and a smokiness to the aftertaste. Quality rarely looks this easy. RRP $65. Available now
2015 North Block U12 Cabernet Sauvignon - 95 points
'Rugged and beautiful. This is brilliant with bold fruit but it's muscular with tannin too; it's like a bodybuilder in sheer lycra. Smooth cassis, silken milk chocolate, a smattering of bay leaves and violets. It has good concentration, but it's not a big wine; it doesn;t need to be. What it does have is form, presence and persistence. $RRP105. Available in September 2019
2017 Chardonnay - 94 points
'Sunny and svelte to start and then impressively long to close. Custard powder, pear, peach and grapefruit flavours come tipped with smokey/spicy oak. You wouldn't call it a big wine, but neither is it lean; it walks that much-desired middle line. RRP $50. Available now
