Estate Range

2010 Shiraz

  • $38.00

Our seven Shiraz blocks comprise five clones planted on some of the toughest, shallow, gravelly soils on the Estate. This helps to reduce the inherent vigour of this variety and produce exceptionally pure and concentrated fruit.

We thin the crop to one bunch per shoot to improve palate weight and structure in the finished wine. The result is a rich and concentrated wine, with ripe fruit flavours and fine, silky tannins.

Nose

Perfumed bouquet of lifted spicy, dark berry fruit with briary notes.

Palate

A complex and elegant palate displaying flavours of raspberry, blackberry and dark cherries with a hint of spice. The tannins are fine, layered and silky and integrate seamlessly with nuances of cedar and vanillin from maturation in the finest French and American oak.

Goes well with

Honey crusted magret of duck with goat’s curd and wild mushroom risotto served with watercress.

"Superb elegance and poise, the hallmarks of Voyager Estate across their entire range."
Nick Stock, The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010
  • The 2010 Shiraz features exceptionally pure fruit flavours with summer berry fruit on the nose and palate, integrated with hints of cedar and vanillin derived from sensitively managed French and American oak. The tannins are fine, complex and silky and linger on the palate. Reflective of the exemplary 2010 vintage, this wine is very much a “cool climate” style of Shiraz.

  • “Vivid purple hue; a restrained and highly perfumed, almost exotic bouquet of cranberry, plum, spice, violets and roasted meat; the palate if super fine, lacy, almost ethereal, yet opens up with power and precision in an almost Pinot-like sensuality; long, precise and destined to go the distance.” Rating: 96 points

James Halliday, James Halliday Australian Wine Companion, 2013 Edition

“Another impressive wine in what is becoming a very impressive line of shiraz from this southern Margaret River producer. Mix of savoury berries with red currant, blackberry and light raspberry. Spicy palate with a seamless silky structure. Fine tannins, with cedary vanillin oak mix. Excellent persistence and superbly balanced. Quite grainy and elegant. Nice follow-up to the 2009.” Rating: 94 points

Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide, 2013 Edition

“A very impressive release (again, the 2010 vintage shines), that will only see it improve and gather flesh and complexity as it develops further in the bottle as it’s still a bit of a pup at present. Still, the wine is all about cool climate finesse and elegance whereby the vibrant fruit profile reflects an intense compote of blackberry, raspberry, and briar flavours alongside the aromatic spice complexities of clove, cinnamon, fennel and wild herb that adds to the overall interest of this well structured and deliciously seamless wine. Terrific stuff indeed.”
