Our style of Chardonnay requires carefully layering flavours to achieve balance and harmony. These wines are typically refined, elegant and structured.

Selecting the Chardonnay clones that best express the characters of our site has always been an important consideration. The expressive fruit characters from the Gin Gin clone and texture found in Clone 95 combine beautifully to form the foundation of our Estate Chardonnay.

"Now right up there with the very best from Margaret River as far as Chardonnay goes."
Ray Jordan's 2011 WA Wine Guide
  • The 2009 vintage, with its cool ripening period, produced a Chardonnay with great fruit purity and the hallmark flavours of lemon pith and grapefruit with a hint of dried pear. Early hand-harvesting, the use of wild yeast fermentation and grape solids, combined with regular battonage, all contributed texture, complexity and balance to the wine. Sensitive winemaking techniques and the use of French oak have resulted in a wine that is restrained, complex and elegant yet with lovely flavour and texture.

  • “Vivid green hue; a restrained and completely unevolved bouquet, laden with grapefruit, spice, grilled cashew, charcuterie and citrus blossom; the palate is taut and lively, showing great depth, freshness and finesse; will stand the test of time, yet offer glorious drinking as a young wine. Rating: 96 points

“Yet another stunning chardonnay from Voyager which is pumping them out with great regularity these days.  Bouquet of spices and minerals and that grapefruit cereal influence is compelling.  The palate is so beautifully tight and linear with deep intensity. A little toasty oak on the mid palate gives it a nice boost.  Very long and precise with many years in the cellar ahead of it."

"Light yellow, brilliant clarity. Very complex, but subtle bouquet of fresh and grilled nuts, creamy yeast-lees characters and white-peach fruit. Again, very delicate and subtle in the mouth; restrained and unevolved, especially considering it's three years old. Oak is under-played. Very fine and intense in the mouth; line and length are exemplary, the finish smooth and clean. Very under-stated within Margaret River chardonnay style - which is typical of this maker. Superb wine." Rating: 94 points
