The Voyager Estate range continues to receive acclaim
around the world from customers, journalists and wine
shows. Read on to find out which wine picked up a gold
medal in a field of 9000 wines at the 2007 International
Wine Challenge and which wine 'Decanter' magazine
favoured with five stars. You will also find impressive
reviews from some of the nation’s most familiar wine
writers, as well as some new ones.
2006 Chenin Blanc
"While Chenin can be made into quite sweet table wines,
sparkling dry whites, fresh dry whites and wooded dry
whites, this must be among the finest and best crafted
of the delicious medium-sweet, fresh, modern styles.
If a striking introduction to wine is needed, then this
could be the answer. It shows wonderful, beautifully
- textured and long fruit that has been enhanced by
the considerable Cliff Royle winemaking skills and, if
anything, it is even superior to the marvellous 2005
version."

2005 Sauvignon Blanc
As James Halliday remarks, "Fresh, precise passionfruit
and kiwifruit aromas, then a lively palate in delicious,
early picked style. 94 points." The popularity of
straight Sauvignon Blanc continues to grow as we
have seen at Cellar Door and in restaurants. However,
so too does the popularity of our Sauvignon Blanc
Semillon blend. The recent low-yielding vintages
have meant we have not had enough fruit to make a
straight varietal Sauvignon Blanc in 2006 or 2007, so
make the most of these last stocks.
2006 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
"Big Cliff Royle is on fire with these latest Voyager
releases... Aromas of gooseberry, passionfruit, lemon,
cut grass and herbs with a wisp of smoke. On the
palate, delicate and crisp with passionfruit, lemon,
fresh pineapple and grassy flavours. Intense crystal
clear flavours balanced with refreshing lemony acidity.
Long lemon and herb finish with a slightly chalky, grippy
exit. A wine of great purity and finesse. Margaret River
Sauvignon Blanc Semillon at its thirst quenching best."
Rated: 94 Points.

2003 VOC Collection Shiraz
Still available but not for long. Less than 100 cases
remain. The best 20 barrels from this beautiful block
of Shiraz were hand selected for this remarkable wine.
Cliff Royle set out to make a Rhone Valley inspired wine,
with lifted, savoury aromatics and cherry fruits on the
nose, while plush velvet tannins with violets and liqueur
cherries evolve on the palate. Already with bottle age,
this wine will continue to develop but with decanting is
drinking sensationally now. Be quick.
2006 VOC Collection Semillon
The 2006 VOC Semillon is the second wine to be released
under the VOC Collection label and is available only to
our Mail Order and Cellar Door customers. This single
vineyard Semillon was selected for its beautiful fresh
fruit and its wonderful crisp acidity. Given 6 months in
a mixture of French and Russian oak to add texture and
spice, this delicious wine will continue to cellar for 10
years. Only the best 20 barrels were selected to make
this wine so we recommend a quick reply. You will be
well rewarded in both the short and long term.
2005 Shiraz
"Cliff Royle, winemaker at Margaret River’s Voyager
Estate, makes wines that are excellent across the board.
This classy new-wave Shiraz (with 1 per cent Viognier)
has an exotic aroma, reminiscent of pepper, flowers,
spice, plums and black cherries. It’s intense but not
heavy, with a long finish."

2005 Chardonnay
"International Wine Challenge - Gold Medal"
"The best Margaret River Chardonnay is a superb
indulgence, and Voyager Estate is one of the region’s
elite. The ’05 is a refined, deliciously complex wine. A
core of grapefruit and honeydew accented fruit character
is perfectly seasoned with subtle lees and oak inputs,
adding touches of nut brittle and vanilla cream. Those
complex flavours are harmoniously woven together in
the mouth, and feels superfine in texture."
Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age
2005 Girt By Sea Cabernet Merlot
In its second release, this blend of predominately
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot sees only 6 months
in oak to retain fresh fruit flavours of blackberries,
mulberries and plums. Fleshy and ripe, this represents
great drinking now and, to quote Campbell Mattinson,
"Set up the red meat, and let’s get stuck in. There’s
nothing at all to complain about here."
2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Already having received 95 points from James Halliday,
the reviews continue to flood in for this wine. As an
example Decanter magazine recently gave it 5 stars
while Bert Werden of the Wine Star Journal had this to
say: "this is the ‘must-have’ and our first nomination
for wine of the year - yes, it is that good." 2003
Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot continues to get better
with age and, with wine writers agreeing, here is your
chance to judge for yourself.
