Noble Rot

Langtons Voyager Estate’s partnership with Margaret River-based Noble Rot Theatre Company continued this autumn with the third successive year of dinner theatre and the hosting of Vintage Stomp.

This year’s play was 'That Cheating Game' (or 'Monsieur Chasse!') by the master of French farce, Georges Feydeau. Held over three weekends, sell-out audiences were enthralled by theatrical hilarity and high jinx, with many guests dressing up in the theme of 1920s Paris, the setting for the play. The evening was made complete by Executive Chef Nigel Harvey’s superb cuisine and Voyager Estate wines.

A few drops of rain couldn’t keep away 2500 visitors to Voyager Estate for the 2007 Vintage Stomp on Sunday, 6 May. Continuing its celebration of wine-growing countries in the southern hemisphere, a South African theme this year provided a colourful backdrop for the grand parade, the on-stage entertainment and the community competitions. Reigning Celebrity Stomp champion, Adele Farina MLC was no match for the team from the Shire who set new records for grape stomping and wine spitting. Their winnings were donated to Bravehearts, a community based organisation working to prevent child sexual abuse and to support the victims of abuse.

la bohème and alice

Langtons As Voyager Estate’s support of West Australian Ballet and West Australian Opera enters its fourth year, we are pleased to promote their upcoming productions at His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth.

West Australian Ballet will perform a new production of "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland" from 14 to 29 September 2007. Choreographed by former artistic director, Simon Dow, the ballet captures Alice’s larger-than-life dream journey with all the excitement and surprise that is dance. The Company’s 21 dancers will transport you to Alice’s magical world in a delightfully new way.

In its 40th Anniversary year, West Australian Opera stages the stupendous ‘La Bohème’ from 27 October to 10 November 2007. Featuring British soprano Mary Plazas as Mimi and Jorge Lopez-Yanez, artistic director of Mexico City Opera, as Rodolfo, this production of ‘La Bohème’ will provide a fitting end to West Australian Opera’s celebration of ‘40 Years of Passion’.

Both productions are supported by the outstanding West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Tickets can be bought through BOCS Ticketing on 08 9484 1133 or at bocsticketing.com.au.

Naturally

Langtons Voyager Estate has made the switch to Natural Power an important stage in reducing our demands on non-renewable energy resources. For a small premium, Synergy Energy provides renewable energy from solar and wind to supply our power needs.

In the wine industry, it is vital to be environmentally conscientious as the environment provides our raw materials - soil, climate and water, as well as native vegetation and beneficial insects. If we continue to look after these materials they will continue to provide Voyager Estate with the quality resources that make great wine.

At Voyager Estate we are conscious of the effects increased usage of non-renewable resources has on our eco-system in Margaret River. Our team monitors rainfall, temperature variations and other relevant information from season to season to better help us manage our vineyards. We are acutely aware that fluctuations in the environment will affect the business that we are in and we continue to support activities that support our environment.

Grape Juice

Langtons It’s back! Our sparkling grape juice makes a triumphant return to the shelves in a brand new guise. Packaged in single-portion 330ml bottles for freshness, the Voyager Estate Grape Juice is non-alcoholic, lightly sparkled and made from 100% Estate-grown grapes. We nurture this fruit with as much care and attention as the fruit that makes our wines, ensuring a fragrant aroma on the nose and a subtly sweet and beautifully crisp palate.

Many of you will know that Voyager Estate owner, Michael Wright, is a teetotaller. He has never really taken to wine and doubts he ever will. However, because he still wants to sample the fruits of the vine, he created this sparkling grape juice for his own enjoyment. Fortunately, he knows he’s not alone and is delighted to share his precious nectar with anyone with a sympathetic palate. The Voyager Estate Grape Juice is available via Mail Order by the case (24 bottles).

going, going...

Langtons Voyager Estate’s VOC Collection wines are individual and just a little different from our Estate range, representing wines from exceptional vintages that showcase particular varieties or unusual wine styles. Only available to our Cellar Door and Mail Order customers, the VOC Collection pays tribute to the role the Dutch East India Company - Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (VOC) - played in the exploration of the Australian coastline from 1606.

The current VOC Collection releases are the 2006 VOC Semillon and the 2003 VOC Shiraz. Both of these wines come from exceptional blocks on the property and are the result of unique vintages in each creating intensely flavoured fruit. When such vintages come along, the winemaking team singles out batches of fruit for special treatment. Please see The Wines for a more in-depth look at each of the wines. These wines are produced in extremely limited quantities and no variety is guaranteed to be repeated. Owning them is rare, drinking them is a delight.
