The 2006 Catering Institute of Australia's Gold Plate
Awards will be remembered as setting an impossibly high benchmark
for our Restaurant after it was credited as the best overall restaurant
in Western Australia by winning the Catering Institute's
"Premier's Award".
As a finalist in two categories - Winery Restaurant and
Tourism Restaurant - Voyager Estate was recognised, in
front of 1100 of its industry peers, as the Gold Plate winner
in both.
As the Restaurant staff celebrated the two wins, there was a
high degree of excitement and anticipation amongst the crowd for
the final and most esteemed award of the evening, the Premier's
Award, which is "determined not only by best meeting the
judging criteria in its own Gold Plate category but by having
attained the highest percentage score in all categories."
And the winner was Voyager Estate.
An elated team, including Restaurant Manager, Marnie Kelly, and
Head Chef, Nigel Harvey, graciously accepted the award as the
best overall restaurant in Western Australia. With an initial
hope of winning two awards, the team was thrilled to come home
with an unexpected three. Our next goal is turning water into
wine.
Voyager Estate now qualifies for the Prix d'honneur, having
demonstrated consistency by winning the best Winery Restaurant
for three consecutive years. There is one key message here -
bookings are essential!
