2015 Broadvale Block 6 Chardonnay
Lifted citrus and subtle stonefruit aromas combine with complex flinty notes and hints of oak derived spice.
Minerality and texture at the core of the wine, the superb medium weight palate displays vibrant citrus elements with some golden kiwifruit notes that lead to a fine, delicate creamy oak finish, underpinned with balanced natural acidity.
A great cheese board wine, as it is delicate enough to allow various cheese flavours and textures shine. Also great with white fish or white meat dishes.
Cellar PotentialUp to 10 yearsWinemaking NotesThe 2015 vintage with its warm ripening period for Chardonnay has produced a wine displaying fineness and elegance, with the hallmark flavours of lemon pith and grapefruit, combined with an attractive chalky textural element. Early hand-harvesting, use of wild yeast, grape solids and full malolactic fermentation combined with regular batonnage, have all contributed texture, complexity and balance to the wine. Sensitive winemaking techniques and the use of French oak, have produced a wine which is restrained, complex and elegant.
Accolades2018 Wine CompanionJames HallidayEstate-grown Dijon clone 95, hand-picked, fermented and matured in French oak (41% new). Finer, more detailed and more clearly focused than its siblings, reflecting its clonal makeup, slight more skewed to citrus/grapefruit than its siblings, but absolutely not one-dimensional. 97 pts
